Transition to Academy

"If you're going to be a footballer, be a great one. If you're going to have a dream, dream big." - Sir Alex Ferguson

The overarching purpose of the Soccer Skills Centre is to provide “access to high-quality programs where players can have fun with their friends, learn new skills and play the game in an appropriate format” (Canada Soccer Skills Centre Manual).

We provide an age and stage appropriate learning environment for all players, regardless of their baseline skill levels and game understanding. Supra’s Soccer Skills Centre program is meant for players between the ages 4-14 that are currently involved with other academy programs, teams, or clubs. These players are typically unable to commit to a full academy season (practices, games, and tournaments) but would like to experience our training sessions. The Skills Centre is not to replace other grassroots programs, rather training complements these programs by enriching each individual player’s learning and development.

Players at this stage are often struggling with confidence due to the lack of technical mastery; as such, we are patient in the delivery of our curriculum as players navigate the different challenges we introduce. The sessions are intense and filled with a tonne of fun activities. The Program is structured following Canada Soccer and FIFA Preferred Training Model. In this approach, each training session is built around activity “stations” that the players move around at regular intervals. The stations focus on Fundamental Movement, Soccer Technique, Coordination, and Small Sided Games. With heavy emphasis on individual technique, we will develop the player’s dribbling, passing, receiving and shooting skills in every session.
