Groundwork

During this phase of development, we remain patient and try not to force them to develop too quickly. Oftentimes, players at this stage have had little to no structure in their training and therefore struggle to adjust to demands of our coaches. With this understanding, we spend much more time identifying, testing, and correcting potential weaknesses (bad habits).

Priorities

It is common for players to be raw and needing some refining in their technical abilities. The core skills (dribbling, passing, receiving, and shooting) are the primary focus of our efforts, though tactical situations within the moments of the game are also introduced. Known as the age of laying down the essential groundwork (8-11 year olds) the main emphasis is on technical groundwork and the start of athletic development.

Players are constantly challenged and competition is an essential component (amongst players) in all sessions. We believe these two elements accelerate growth and development. The desire to compete is imprinted in them at this age and it is a discernible quality that helps our players rise above others the same age.
